Sunny was born to Chinese immigrant parents in Minneapolis, USA. He spent his childhood in various places including Taichung in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Tokyo in Japan. At the age of 16, he moved to the USA and attended the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, although he eventually dropped out.

Sunny found Sunny & Co., a trading card company that specializes in physical cards that are highly sought after by collectors.
2005
Sunny found Goood Company, a Tokyo-based design consulting firm. He and his team worked with companies and organizations such as Uniqlo, KDDI, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. They have also worked with multiple publishers to publish books.
2010
Goood Company has been acquired by a private equity firm.
2010
Sunny found a new stealth startup that offers an app for searching apps based on price, niche categories, and other criteria.
2011
Sunny found AnyPerk, a global rewards and recognition platform that help companies in creating a happier workforce.
2012
Sunny has joined the Winter Batch of Y Combinator.
2015
AnyPerk has raised $8.5M in series A funding from DCM Ventures.
2016
With new funding, AnyPerk has raised just over $25 million from investors including, Andreessen Horowitz, Gary Vaynerchuk, and Digital Garage.
2017
Rebranding AnyPerk as Fond.
2023
Reward Gateway has acquired Fond (more ref. 1, 2, 3). Sunny remains in charge of managing the product operations.
